Free webinar July 30 👉 Flexible Repurposing System

Remove “Someday” From Your Repurposing Plan (EP113)

I’ve got a stack of courses, checklists, and AI tools that promise to solve my content repurposing problem. I still don’t use them consistently. There are three reasons that keeps happening and maybe for you too. This episode goes into why the repurposing plan hasn’t happened yet, and what’s helping me move forward.

Enjoy the episode!

🧰 I love me a good digital marketing tool. This week’s recommended tool is Scoop.it

A content curation tool, bookmark tool, information finder… it has multiple uses. I like it as a sort of other search engine. I really like how they have made an effort to prevent crap content by allowing only paid users to curate publicly and free users content only shows up in the community. I perosnally like it to find new information vs posting to it.

🎧 This week’s recommended podcast episode is Build Solid Confidence on the Adult Chair Podcast.

This one I loved as it wasn’t like “fake it til you make it”. It was around how trust in ourselves build confidence.

If you listen to the book, let me know how you like it!

Someday I’m going to turn that blog post into a series.

Someday I’m gonna turn that high performing IG post into a blog post.

Someday I’ll repurpose that email into a webinar.

Soooomedaaaayyyyy over the rainbow… …lies the magical lands where your content repurposes itself.

And interestingly, it probably could with the right set up in an AI system.

But until then, let’s talk about the reasons you’ve not yet build out your repurposing plan or structure and keep doing all the things one off and last minute.

I have probably 10-20 courses, plans, checklists, Claude Skills, Gemini Gems… that tell me how to repurpose my content.

And have I done any of them? Well yes, a little. But not on any regularly basis.

And I keep not liking what I get as an output.

So whyyyy the shit cannot I not just do it? Ugh.

It comes down to 3 reasons.

Reason one. Too many options.

I sit down to repurpose something and I’m like aaahhhh. I start and then think I should probably create X number of things for each of my main platforms.

Remember how we talked about the various forms last week? That evolves into an hour later and so many tabs and templates for ideas.

I like abundance of most things, but options isn’t one of them in this case. It’s paralyzing.

And then I just throw my hands up in the air and yell I just don’t care, and I go pet my dog and get a tea. Because that fixes everything.

Reason two. No defined starting point.

Usually I’m winging it. This episode right here, is one of the few times it wasn’t written, recorded, edited and published the day before. Only because I absolutely knew it wouldn’t get done as my 3 great nieces are with me for a week and I’m out of office.

Winging it is chaotic. I’ve evolved into having a starting point and that is helping so much. Having this podcast is my starting point. It provides direction and clarity to any otherwise very messy and icky feeling process to publishing content for my marketing.

Reason three. The revision loop.

You draft it. You hate it. You revise. You still don’t love it. You close the tab.

Nothing goes out. And your channels are quiet another day. Shame sets in. Justification and bartering for future time you don’t have happens.

It’s a vicious mind fuck cycle.

The revision loop happens because of our expectation of what good/bad is.

You’ve likely heard the advice done is better than perfect. This is where that applies. Be aware that when you hit this reason, it’s likely an overthinking that’s got you stuck.

So. Three reasons why we don’t have an active repurposing plan. Too many options, no starting point, revision loop.

Waiting for the next one thing to be done

Next week we go through some points to consider what content gets repurposed.

AND for a more complete look at a flexible repurposing plan… I’m hosting a free webinar on July 30th called Messaging Momentum: A Flexible Repurposing System When You’re the Entire Marketing Department.

It covers how to tell which content is worth repurposing, a scoring system for your backlog, how to separate your structure from your message to stay flexible, and a short list of tactics that actually get things out the door.

Come back next week where we talk about those points for what to look for when repurposing content.

Here’s The Takeaway

Take a mental inventory of how many repurposing plans and courses you have saved that aren’t implemented. If you have more than 1, your plan might be thwarted by some other reason than “having the right system”.
