Blog posts help your site rank higher in search engines and help your website visitors convert, to take some sort of action on your website.

When they land, whether that’s from a search engine of any kind, another website, or your Instagram bio, or wherever, you have one shot to show them…

🟠 That you know what you’re doing

🟠 That you’re the right fit

🟠 And that you’ve got answers to the questions in their head

Publishing blog posts aren’t about doing content for content sake.

They should lead people closer to working with you without the need for more DMs, more sales calls, or more convincing.

Following are the 6 types, their purpose, how it fits with SEO and or customer experience and examples.

Most are good for both but there are a couple that are good for one or the other. All are good for repurposing across your channels.

Additionally, the examples are typical title formats, however, you can change them out to match your brand tone.

1. Authority-Building Post

Purpose: To show that I know what I’m doing and have a strong point of view on the topic.

  • “Why DIY [what you do] often leads to more [pain point] later”
  • “The truth about choosing the right [your service] and what most people overlook”

This post is one that is commonly used in the SEO industry because they tend to rank for more detailed searches. Google loves easy to read, straight answers and sometimes these pages do very well. It’s also a great resource for your website visitors.

Pro tip… it’s ok that you may answer each of these in detail in another blog post. This is a great opportunity for internal linking. Answer in short and then link to the full blog post.
