Recently, I opened up an Instagram AMA (Ask Me Anything), and you all delivered! From AI tools and SEO overwhelm to personal questions about my dog, Stone, and my experiences with nomad life—it was a fun mix of topics. I’m diving into your top questions here, along with a digital marketing tool recommendation and a podcast episode I’ve been loving. Let’s get started!

My Favorite AI Platform Right Now

Currently, my go-to AI platforms are ChatGPT and Claude. They’ve been the easiest for me to use in both business and personal life. I’ve dabbled with other platforms, but they often feel too big or complex for what I need. That said, I do have my eye on Gemini—it seems to be gaining momentum, and I’m curious to explore its capabilities.

Feeling Like AI is “Cheating”? Here’s My Take.

At first, yes, I felt like using AI was somehow cheating. But then I had a conversation with Kinzie Soderberg from Authentic AI for Entrepreneurs, and she completely shifted my mindset. AI isn’t about cutting corners—it’s about working smarter, not harder. If it helps streamline your workflow and make your business more efficient, why wouldn’t you use it? (If you want to hear more, check out Episode 31 where we dive into this topic.)

Google Analytics Feels Overwhelming. Where Do I Even Start?

I hear this one a lot! Google doesn’t exactly make analytics user-friendly, so if you’re not a numbers person, here are some ways to simplify it:

  • Hire someone to set up a dashboard that only shows what you need to know.
  • Set up automated reports to be emailed to you so you don’t have to log in regularly.
  • Use Looker Studio (by Google)—it’s a free tool with ready-made templates that make analytics much easier to digest.
  • Get clear on what you actually want to track. What metrics matter most to your business? (For SEO-specific tracking, check out Episode 11.)

What is SEO?

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. There’s also other acronyms depending on who you talk to but essentially it’s about doing things to your website so that your audience can find it through search engines and now what’s being called sometimes as answer engines. I have some episodes around this topic. Take your pick to learn more.

SEO Feels Overwhelming. Where Should I Start?

At the core of SEO is making sure your website is technically sound. If search engines can’t properly access and index your site, nothing else matters. A site audit (or as I like to call it, a site health check) is the best place to start.

Try using Ahrefs Webmaster Tools (it’s free!) for a quick audit. It’ll show you what’s working and what needs improvement. But keep in mind—it follows “best practices,” which may not always align with your unique business needs.

Example: I often recommend hiding the contact page from search engines. Why? If someone lands on that page first, they don’t get the context of who you are. Instead, I’d rather guide them to your About or Home page first.

What is Channel Attribution?

Channel attribution is about understanding which marketing efforts are driving conversions or sales. You’re likely running more than one marketing campaign or probably more likely market on more than one channel… each social media platform is a channel, your newsletter, seo, referrals, ads… all that, each one is a channel. So a sale or download or sign up or whatever gets attributed to a channel. Periodically, you review that information to decide where/how/what you want to do next in your marketing.

Do You Design Websites or Just Do SEO?

Right now, I focus on SEO, but I’m exploring adding website design as an option. Here’s why… many business owners come to me wanting more traffic, but once we dig in, we realize their website isn’t set up to convert that traffic into leads or sales. What’s the point of getting more visitors if they don’t take action?

The Best SEO Tip for Freelancers

If you’re a freelancer, one of the best things you can do for SEO is create high-value blog content—but make it different!

Instead of a generic post like “Tasks to Delegate to a VA,” think about how you can add a unique angle:

  • Share personal experiences or stories
  • Use your own photos instead of stock images
  • Avoid overused AI-generated phrases
  • Talk about things others in your industry aren’t covering
  • Include fresh quotes from experts, collaborators, or clients

What’s Nomad Life Like?

Last year, I lived as a digital nomad until October. It was fun, but messy—I moved too fast, didn’t plan well, and went through some deep self-exploration, sometimes very dark. If you’re considering it, my biggest tip is to stay in one place for at least three months. Anything less, and you won’t fully experience the location.

I’ll be sharing more in an upcoming episode (once I stop procrastinating on writing the blog post about it!).

What I’m Working on Right Now

For my business… I’m creating a resource to help business owners with blog post planning and writing—stay tuned!
Personally… I just started reading Brianna Wiest’s new book, The Life That’s Waiting (and, apparently, I’ve become obsessed with almost daily word searches).

My Dog, Stone, & His Instagram

I have one Australian Kelpie, Stone, and yes, he has his own Instagram… @runnerdogstone. He even goes on runs with me! I just made a fun video of him coming home from daycare—if you want a peek into his life, go follow him.
